Cleans and shines fiberglass to keep colors crisp and clean!
We’re all car care experts now, but did you know how to take care of your first car? For most of us, it was a learning process. New boat owners experience the same trials and errors in the first few years of ownership. Many people don’t think of boat maintenance until something goes wrong! Fortunately, minor problems can be easily corrected with the right products.
One common problem that pops up is oxidation. Yes, fiberglass gel coats can oxidize just like automotive paint. The trick is catching it early enough to reverse it. Meguiar’s #44 Marine/RV Color Restorer removes light oxidation and brightens colors to keep your boat looking like new!
Oxidation occurs on the gel coat, which sits on top of the color coat. Oxidation appears as a white chalk that slowly creeps throughout the gel coat and obscures the color coat. Colors appear dull and faded. A gentle polish with Meguiar’s #44 Marine/RV Color Restorer removes this fine layer of oxidation to reveal a clean, clear layer of gel coat. The color coat underneath is able to shine through. In addition to mild cleaners, Color Restorer contains gloss enhancing agents to improve the shine and slickness of the gel coat. Your boat will look like it never left the showroom!
RVs are also made of fiberglass and therefore experience the same oxidation. Use Meguiar’s #44 Marine/RV Color Restorer to clean and brighten the gel coat and then seal with a coat of wax.
You may apply #44 Color Restorer by hand or by machine. Either way, work on a cool, clean surface in the shade. Apply a line of restorer in a circle onto a polishing pad. Press the pad to the surface using medium pressure and turn the machine on at 4500-5000 OPM or 1000-1500 RPM. Work on one section at a time and buff away the dried polish using a Cora microfiber towel. If applying by hand, use a terry cloth applicator pad. Always follow with a wax, like Meguiar’s #56 Boat/RV Pure Wax to protect your boat or RV from future damage.
If you are applying #44 Color Restorer with a polisher, like the Porter Cable 7424XP, be sure to thoroughly clean your pads. Mix a scoopful of DP Polishing Pad Rejuvenator in 3-4 gallons of water and soak your used pads in the solution. In fact, keep a bucket of this cleaner on hand so you can toss the pads in as you use them. Pads will clean up easily and last longer!
Correcting minor problems is part of the learning process. Clean, brighten, and beautify your boat or RV with Meguiar’s #44 Marine/RV Color Restorer.
