Genuine replacement backing plate for the Makita BO6040.
The Makita 6” Rubber Hook & Loop Backing Plate is a duplicate of the one included with your Makita BO6040 polisher. With multiple ventilation holes and durable construction, it will hold up through frequent detailing in both rotary and dual action polishing modes.
22 vent holes. The Makita backing plate has 14 holes in the rubber and another 8 holes in the hard plastic plate to allow heat to escape from the pad. All these holes lessen the risk of burning the paint through spontaneous heat build-up. The holes are spaced out around the backing plate so as not to interfere with the hook & loop’s ability to hold the pad.
Hook & Loop Backing. This is an industrial grade Velcro-like material that is designed to hold up under rough conditions. Just press a foam pad to the plate and you’re ready to polish.
Beveled rubber edge. The plate is mostly made of rubber (that’s the white area shown in the picture.). The rubber provides a soft, flexible cushion between the polisher and the pad. The beveled edge is a safeguard against potential scratches caused by tilting the polisher. Plus, this edge is flexible to allow the Makita to glide over your car’s curves.
Center post attachment. The Makita 6” Rubber Backing Plate screws onto the polisher through a hole in the center of the plate. The center bolt helps to keep the pad balanced. The screw is recessed into the bottom of the backing plate so it will not touch the paint or the pad during operation. This is a hex screw; use the wrench included with your Makita polisher to tighten the backing plate into place.
The Makita 6” Rubber Hook & Loop Backing Plate will accommodate both the 6.5” foam pads or the 7.5” foam pads. Check out our money-saving foam pad kits to accessorize your Makita polisher for less.
