Wool was the original material used to polish cars before there were foam pads or clear coat paints. Wool pads have come a long way since then with new synthetic wool blends that are designed for today’s clear coat finishes. The Edge has taken wool pads to a whole new level with their The Edge 6 Inch Wool Buffing Pads.
The Edge PLUS 8 Inch Wool Buffing Pads use the Edge’s patented Quick Connect System. Pads connect to the polisher with an adapter that locks in the middle of the pad’s internal plate. The plate ensures that the pad is always perfectly centered and balanced. The plush wool wraps around the center plate on all sides so the plate is never exposed and it can never come into contact with the paint.
The Edge 2000 6 Inch Wool Buffing Pads are made of twisted wool. Twisted wool has a unique texture that makes it ideal for leveling scratches and oxidized paint. The variety of wool and percentage of wool affects each pad’s “cut”, making some pads less aggressive than others.
The Edge 2000 6 Inch Wool Buffing Pads are available in four varieties:
Black Heavy Cut 100% Domestic Wool Pad
The black pad is ideally suited for deep swirls, severe scratches, pitting, and defects. It removes wet sand marks and severe oxidation with the help of a compound or heavy cut swirl remover.
Yellow Medium Cut 50% Wool, 50% Wool Acrylic Pad
The yellow wool pad is moderately aggressive. It removes swirls and moderate scratches, and reduces significant pits and deeper scratches. Use a swirl remover with the yellow pad when aggressive cutting is not needed.
Green Light Cut 40% Wool, 20% Acrylic, 40% Rayon Pad
The green pad produces beautiful results with one step cleaner polishes. It has enough cut for cleaning the removing very light imperfections on paints that are in overall good condition.
Blue Finishing 70% Acrylic, 30% Wool Pad
Use the blue pad for general polishing and gloss-enhancement. The blue pad can be used with any finishing polish to bring out a fine luster on any finish.
White Ultrafine Polishing 100% Australian Lambswool Pad
The lambswool pad has a fluffy, soft texture that produces a mirror-like gloss. It’s the finishing touch pad. Use the white lambswool pad with glazes and prewax cleaners.
The Edge 2000 6 Inch Wool Buffing Pads are made of wool from a domestic US supplier for quality and consistency. You can depend on consistent performance from every pad, every time.
The Edge 2000 6 Inch Wool Buffing Pads are 6 inches in diameter. Attach the pads to your rotary polisher using The Edge Drive Adapter 5/8” Thread (E-206). Screw the adapter into the polisher. Place the pad on a flat surface and press the adapter into the center of the pad. The adapter will pop into place. To release it, press the center button on the bottom of the adapter.
Each pad is washable and reversible. Use DP Polishing Pad Rejuvenator to remove polish residues and restore the wool’s texture.
