Washing your boat regularly is the only way to prevent algae from becoming a permanent part of your boat’s hull.
Meguiar’s Mirror Glaze #54 Boat/RV Gel Wash is designed specifically to clean fiberglass boats and RVs. Fiberglass is coated with a gel coat, which is different from the clear coat on your car. Many RV owners find that the gel coat is not as durable as a clear coat so they elect to get their RVs clear coated. Likely, the gel coat would’ve held up better if it was cleaned with products made especially for gel coats, like Meguiar’s Mirror Glaze #54 Boat/RV Gel Wash. This shampoo is extra gentle in order to preserve the gel coat for as long as possible.
Meguiar’s Mirror Glaze #54 Boat/RV Gel Wash produces lots of rich suds in order to lubricate and protect the gel coat from loose contamination. Conditioners enrich the gel coat to increase the shine and slickness. Use this shampoo as often as needed. It will not cause detergent burn and it is biodegradable. In fact, #54 is so gentle that it will not remove wax. Your boat or RV will stay protected through several washes, requiring less frequent wax applications.
Use a natural sea sponge or a chenille wash mitt to gently wash your boat or RV.
Just add one capful of soap per gallon of water and wash as usual. Rinse thoroughly with free-flowing water. Dry the washed surface with a large Cobra Microfiber Waffle-Weave Towel and then polish using Meguiar’s #45 Marine/RV Polish. Follow up with a coat of Meguiar’s #56 Boat/RV Wax.
