There are some problems in detailing that can only be conquered with the help of a buffer or polisher: Water spots, scratches, swirl marks, oxidation, and cloudy paint, to name a few. Depending on the severity of the problem, you’ll use a different grade of foam pad to solve it. Smart Pads™ with CCS Technology are manufactured by Lake Country Manufacturing, the maker of premium polisher pads and accessories. All pads have Velcro® brand hook & loop fasteners to secure the pad to the backing plate.

Firm, high density foam, superior in quality to all we’ll cover here. It’s unlike any of them. I liken it to the memory foam you see for mattresses. It falls between a cutting and a polishing pad, in action, but is more user friendly and delivers flawless results. (By far the best, most expensive and hardest for us to get—everyone from automobile manufacturers to you and I want them. You’ll see why!)
2 CCS 7.5 inch White Polishing Foams
High absorption foam formula for the application and removal of waxes, polishes and sealants. The most popular, is constructed of medium-textured foam is designed for application and removal of polishes and waxes. Using a buffer rather than man-power to do this, is quicker, easier and yields super-human results. It has an ever-so-slight cutting ability to enhance the application of a pre-wax cleaner or protective wax.
CCS 7.5 inch Black Finishing Foam
Least abrasive. Composition is firm enough to withstand added pressure during final finishing to remove buffer swirls. Use with machine glaze or finishing polish. Ultra-soft and incredible for a putting on that finishing touch. I prefer to use it after buffing off a haze, whether by hand or machine, them coming back over the entire surface with a the finishing pad alone, or, even better, the finishing pad with a microfiber bonnet.
CCS 7.5 inch Blue Final Finishing Pad
This soft pad applies paint glaze in an ultra thin, even coat. It can be used to apply wax, also. The blue pad puts the perfect finishing touch on your paint.
2 Cobra Microfiber Detailing Towels(16 x 16 inches)
Constructed of the finest quality microfibers the Cobra Detailing Towel sets the standard with an outstanding 80/20 blend of polyester/polyamide filament, woven so densely they boast over 200,000 strands of fiber per square inch of fabric! These strands are nearly invisible to the naked eye, and are 100 times smaller than a human hair! Use this cloth for cleaning, buffing, and wiping away wax.
2 oz. Cobra Quik Clenz Pad Cleaner
Wash used foam and wool pads in Cobra Quik Clenz Pad Cleaner. Dissolve this 2 oz. packet into 2-3 gallons of water. Soak pads and microfiber tools in the solution for up to 15 minutes and agitate if necessary. The citrus cleaner quickly breaks up oily residues within foam and wool to restore the texture of the pads. Let the pads air dry, backing side up
